125 LUCKY students who sat their Leaving Certificate exams last year had all their hard work rewarded this past weekend with the handing out of the prestigious 2025 All-Ireland Scholarships (AIS).
The winners of this year’s scholarship awards, funded each year by Limerick billionaire, philanthropist, and horse-racing mogul JP McManus, were announced at a ceremony held at the University of Limerick on April 25.
The All-Ireland Scholarships helps 125 outstanding students from all 32 counties in Ireland each year in their journey into third-level education, seeing them supported financially through the full duration of their college career.
Among those receiving this year’s awards, in the presence of Mr McManus at the ceremony on the University of Limerick campus last Friday, were Jack Finn, Emer O’Connor, Rachel Kinane, and Kelvin Gao.
Guest of honour at the ceremony was Sister Agnes Fitzgerald of Cuan Mhuiree in Bruree, County Limerick.
The awards are now in their 17th year and have so far seen almost 2,000 secondary-level students supported in their journey into third-level education.
The scholarships are awarded each year to the highest achieving students, with a minimum of two students from each of the island’s 32 counties receiving funding.
The All-Ireland scholarships cover the full duration of the students’ undergraduate studies, including all aspects of their academic financial support.
To qualify, students must also be attending a non-fee-paying school and be in receipt of a third level education maintenance grant from Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) or an Education Maintenance Allowance in Northern Ireland.
